Truxtun Civic League holds banquet
The Historic Truxtun Civic League recently held the 3rd annual Truxtun Reunion Banquet at St. Mark's Edmonds Center in Portsmouth. In keeping with the theme We Are Family, current and former residents gathered to celebrate the 90-year-old community. Established in 1919 as the first planned housing community for African Americans, the region was listed in the national register of historic places in 1979.
